Everest  Base Camp is in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 meters (17,598 ft). Your trip starts in the valley of temples, Kathmandu. An ancient city famous for Hindu temples and Buddhist Stupas. Several United Nations World Heritage Sites gives you a glimpse of the  Golden Age of Nepal’s art and architectural history.

A day touring Kathmandu and another prepping for the trek follows a twin-otter flight to Lukla where the trail head begins to the top of the world.

The Everest Base Camp trek on the south side is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Himalayas and is visited by thousands of trekkers each year. Trekkers usually fly from Kathmandu to Lukla before beginning the morning trek to this base camp. From Lukla, the trek leads upper to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, 3,440 meters (11,290 ft), following the valley of the Dudh Koshi river.

Day 1

Kathmandu

Elevation: 4,383 feet / 1336 meters

Following the trans-Atlantic flight, you arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. EWT will receive you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Welcome dinner awaits in the evening.

Day 2

Kathmandu

Elevation: 4,383 feet / 1336 meters

A guide will show you the beauty of Kathmandu, an amalgam of glorious past and modern-day chaos. You also pack and prepare for the trek. Our guides will check your equipment to make sure you are all set.

Day  3

Phakding

Elevation: 8,563 feet / 2610 meters

45 minutes twin-otter flight from Kathmandu takes you to the trail head,Lukla(2886m). The trek start on gradual slopes with 4-5 hours of walkto Phakding.

Day 4

NamcheBazaar

Elevation: 11,286 feet / 3440 meters

A trek along the Dudhkosi, a river white like milk, crossing the many swinging suspension bridges we enter the Sagarmatha National Park, we cross the famous uphill towards the Gateway of Everest, Namche Bazaar.

Day 5

Rest Day at NamcheBazaar

Elevation: 11,286 feet / 3440 meters

Rest day on mountains mean staying active all day but sleeping back in the same altitude, not higher. Rest day at Namche is time for an early start to one of the highlights of the Everest Region, a hike to Syangboche. This short hike takes you to the vantage point where the majestic Himalayan giants including Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, Ambadablam unveil. You return to Namche, the bazaar with internet café, bakeries, museum, various shops with western climbing equipment and local artifacts.

Day 6

Thyangboche

Elevation: 12,664 feet / 3860 meters

Hiking Distance: ~ 5 miles

Destination for today is Thyangboche which is home to the famous monastery perched on the highest altitude in the world. Time to get blessings and awaken the internal journey.

Day 7

Dingboche/Pheriche

Elevation: 14,469 feet / 4410 meters

Hiking Distance: ~ 5 miles

From Thyangboche the trail descends to the heavens. Yes, that’s right. Debuche is considered ‘paradise’ in the Rai community. We continue the journey to Pangboche, Dingboche and finally Pheriche. In today’s journey you can notice the terrain now covered in lowering bushes.

Day 8

Acclimatization day at Pheriche. Hiking to Nagakarsang Hill. Gain around 500 meters and rest at Pheriche.

Day 9

Lobuche

Elevation: 16,109 feet / 4910 meters

The landscape rises in gradual slope parallel to Khumbu Glacier. On our way to Lobuche we pass the stone memorials for the departed soul of climbers who decided to rest in the mountains. Mt Pumorishines on us as we reach Lobuche.

Day 10

GorakShep-Everest Base Camp

Elevation: 17,000 feet / 5182 meters

Hiking Distance: ~ 4 miles

Gorakhshep(5100m) is the final point to see permanent human facility. A few tea-houses. Two hours trek from Gorakhshep and we are at the foot of Mt Everest. We will spend a few hours at the Base camp and return to Gorakhshep.

Day 11

Kalapatthar-Lobuche

Elevation: 17,575 feet / 5357 meters

Hiking Distance: ~ 2 miles

We start early to catch the magnificence of Mt Everest. Kala Patthar offers one of the most rewarding views of Everest. This is where most famous pictures of Everest are clicked. We will return to Gorakhshep for breakfast and keep going to the day’s destination, Lobuche.
