It is an 8-9 hour drive from Kathmandu to Janakpur via the Kavre – Sindhuli – Bardibas route with the option of a 30 minutes flight to Janakpur airport from Kathmandu.
Janaki Mandir is a Hindu temple in Janakpur of Nepal, also the birthplace of Sita-Hindu goddess. It is here that Sita chose Lord Rama as her husband during her swayambar. Their marriage ceremony had occurred in the nearby temple which is also called the vivaha mandap.The Janaki Mandir displays the craftsmenship of the mithila artists. Fully built in bright white and constructed in an area of 4,860 sq. feet in a mixed style of Mughal and Koiri domes.It is a three-storied structure made entirely of stone and marble.Every year, thousands of pilgrims from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, and other countries visit Ram Janaki Temple to worship Lord Ram and Sita. Many worshippers visit the temple during the festivals of Ram Nawami, Vivaha Panchami, Dashain and Tihar.
