We will visit a UNESCO Heritage site; Boudhanath Stupa, which lies approximately 6 km north east from central Kathmandu, which was probably built in the 14th century. Located at the valley floor, Boudhanath Stupa is considered a jewel point in the center of a natural mandala, a store of sacred energy. Today it remains an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists and local Nepalis, as well as a popular tourist site. The site was damaged in the 2015 earthquake. Thanks to the united efforts of the community, it has been restored to its full glory. We will have lunch at one of the restaurants overlooking the scenic stupa site.

In the afternoon we will visit the Pashupatinath Temple, also a UNESCO Heritage site. It is a famous and sacred Hindu temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Non Hindus are restricted from entering the main temple and so will be going around the cremation spot. You can see the richly ornamented pagoda house with the sacred linga or holy symbol of Lord Shiva.

In the evening pack and get ready for the trek tomorrow. Pack a bag you need for the trek and you can leave the rest at the hotel/ EWT office.
