The Poon Hill Trek is one of the most popular treks in the Annapurna region. Situated at an altitude of 3210 m, the trek offers a magnificent view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchare, Gangapurna, Himchuli mountains from the Poon Hill view point. The trek starts from Pokhara- the lake city also the gateway to the Annapurna circuit. The trek takes you through fascinating traditional villages, ethnic communities, and rhododendron forests. Poon Hill is possible to trek anytime of the year.

Day 1
Day 1: Kathmandu

Elevation: 1,336 m

Representative from EWT will receive you at the airport and take you to the hotel.

Day 2
Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

We will visit a UNESCO Heritage site; Boudhanath Stupa, which lies approximately 6 km north east from central Kathmandu, which was probably built in the 14th century. Located at the valley floor, Boudhanath Stupa is considered a jewel point in the center of a natural mandala, a store of sacred energy. Today it remains an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists and local Nepalis, as well as a popular tourist site. The site was damaged in the 2015 earthquake. Thanks to the united efforts of the community, it has been restored to its full glory. We will have lunch at one of the restaurants overlooking the scenic stupa site.

In the afternoon we will visit the Pashupatinath Temple, also a UNESCO Heritage site. It is a famous and sacred Hindu temple located on the banks of the Bagmati River. Non Hindus are restricted from entering the main temple and so will be going around the cremation spot. You can see the richly ornamented pagoda house with the sacred linga or holy symbol of Lord Shiva.

In the evening pack and get ready for the trek tomorrow. Pack a bag you need for the trek and you can leave the rest at the hotel/ EWT office.

Day 3
Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

Elevation: 1,400 m (6-7 hours drive)

Overnight in Pokhara

Day 4
Day 4: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapool (42 km) and trek to Ulleri

Elevation: 2,073 m

You start the trek from Nayapool to Ramghai, where you stop for lunch. You continue your hike crossing Tikhedhunga (1,577 m) to Ulleri. Ulleri is a small Gurung Village from where you will see the mountain of Annapurna South (7,219 m) and Himchhuli (6,441m). Overnight in Ulleri.

Day 5
Day 5: Trek to Ghorepani

Elevation: 2,874 m

Today you will be walking through oak and rhododendron forest with a lunch stop at Nangethanti. Ghorepani is a beautiful Magar village from where you will be able to enjoy the views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 6
Day 6: Trek to Tadapani

Elevation: 2,660 m

We hike to Poon Hill View Point to witness the breathtaking sunrise and capture the panoramic view of the mountain ranges. We trek to Tadapani which is also a beautiful Gurung village surrounded by rhododendron. From here you will be able to get the mountain view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, Fishtail and Mardi Himal at a close range. Overnight in Tadapani.

Day 7
Day 7: Trek to Ghandruk and head back to Pokhara

Elevation: 1,952 m

Trek to Ghandruk and continue to Pokhara

Ghandruk is a beautiful village located in the western Nepal and inhabited by Gurung community.

Ghandruk is a popular place for tourists as it offers a spectacular view of the Annapurna range including Machhapuchare and Himchuli. Drive to Pokhara from Ghandruk. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 8
Day 8: Drive back to Kathmandu

Day 9: Final departure
