The Great Himalaya Trail (GHT) Nepal is one of the world’s longest and most spectacular trekking routes, stretching across the entire length of Nepal from the eastern Kanchenjunga region to the far-western districts of Humla and Darchula. Spanning over 1,500–1,700 km, the trail offers two main variations—the challenging High Route, which traverses remote alpine terrain at altitudes up to 6,100 m, and the more accessible Low (Cultural) Route, winding through vibrant villages, terraced hills, and rich cultural landscapes. Divided into multiple self-contained sections, the GHT connects diverse ecosystems, from rhododendron forests to arid trans-Himalayan deserts, and immerses trekkers in the traditions of Nepal’s many ethnic communities. Managed under the guidance of the Nepal Tourism Board and the Great Himalaya Trail Development Programme, the GHT promotes sustainable tourism, supports local livelihoods, and offers an unparalleled adventure for those seeking both natural beauty and deep cultural engagement.
